About Me
Robin Teigland is an Associate Professor in the Department of Marketing & Strategy, a member of the newly founded Center for Strategy and Competitiveness, and a member of the Core Faculty of the full-time MBA program at the Stockholm School of Economics (SSE).
Robin's research interests revolve around the creation and diffusion of knowledge in inter-organizational networks of practice and the impact on a firm’s competitive advantage, and she has published a considerable number of articles in national and international books and academic journals on this subject. The focus of her current research is within the biotechnology industry in which she is investigating the relationship between social networks and performance at various levels. This research includes projects such as a study of the emergence of Sweden’s stem cell industry and a study of the development of the Uppsala Biotech Cluster (together with CIND at Uppsala University, www.cind.se). Additionally, she is working with an international team of IT researchers investigating how information and communication technologies support knowledge flows and improved productivity within organizations.
Robin’s teaching interests parallel her research interests as she is responsible for teaching “The Uppsala Biotech Cluster”, one of three live cases that the SSE MBA program offers its students. Additionally, Robin lectures on and teaches a variety of courses on social networks and social capital, knowledge management, and strategy at the undergraduate, graduate, and executive levels.
Prior to completing her doctoral thesis at the Institute of International Business at SSE, Robin worked as a consultant for McKinsey & Company, Inc. in Stockholm. Additionally, she holds a B.A. in Economics from Stanford University, an M.B.A. from The Wharton School, and an M.A. in International Studies from the University of Pennsylvania.
